It has been years, but my take on Mulholland Drive was that the old couple are torturers, puppet masters stringing dewey-eyed Betty in their sadistic dream world, purely for their own amusement, before destroying her. Call them demons, angels, monsters or fiends, certainly divine, they are ravenous creatures taking a side trip from the ethers to consume Betty and then move on.

    One thing that will always be true about Mulholland Drive… people will always be baffled and captured by it. Great writeup!
