Way back on March 26th, 2023, Image Comics announced a graphic-novel version of Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis, to be released through their Image imprint Syzygy, with Jacob Phillips as the artist. Flash ahead to July 9th, 2024, and Phillips posted to X that he had “Just finished drawing the last page of MEGALOPOLIS – the graphic novel adaptation of Francis Ford Coppola’s upcoming movie. I have been drawing this book (on and off) since December 2022 so it feel[s] real good to get it finished. I need a pint.”

Movie adaptations of comic books tend to be huge news. But comic adaptations of movies tend to go under the radar. For example, Titan Comics has been releasing Blade Runner-related comics for the last 5 years. But writing this article is the first I’ve heard of it, and I love Blade Runner and I love comics.

I, for one, hope we see more high-profile movies turned into comics.
