Ti West softly confirmed a fourth X movie. But no Maxine?

Back in May, Ti West spoke with Entertainment Weekly. The quotes fell into the abyss of MaXXXine still being months away from wide-release, but anticipation has picked up with the release of the film. Which means people are rediscovering that we may have a fourth movie in the X series.

Fans discovered a holding page on Letterboxd for “Untitled X Installment”. The description reads “The fourth film in Ti West’s X franchise. West has confirmed he is developing a new installment.”

That confirmation was in the Entertainment Weekly interview.

West confirms that MaXXXine “will probably be the end of the Maxine era,” but there’s a chance the films could expand beyond a trilogy. “I do have one idea that plays into these movies that could maybe happen,” he mentions. “I don’t know if it’ll be next. It might be. We’ll see.”

As to what the fourth film might be about. West said: I”ll say that, if there’s more to be done in this X franchise, it’s certainly not what people are expecting it to be. It’s not just picking up again a few years later and whatever. It’s different in the way that Pearl was an unexpected departure. It’s another unexpected departure..”
