The Cuckoo Clock is a Seattle-shot horror film from writer-director Lisa Jay, with a cast whose work spans independent film, theater, music, and creature design.

Jay grew up in a haunted ranch house in the Midwest. The Cuckoo Clock is her debut feature but she’s written and made shorts for over a decade. Her work focuses on horror and the psychological. Jay was originally in the art space, having graduated with a BFA in painting. Serving as the art director for an indie film in New Mexico was her stepping stone into filmmaking.

Hahn is non-binary. As an actor, they’ve appeared in seven projects, including as a party guest in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. As a writer, they focus on Queer storytelling. Their directorial debut is called Land of the Dead: it’s for the gays and is about a group of friends “haunted by a demon they summoned as a child.” They won Best Shorts Screenplay at the Portland Under the Stars festival in 2026.

DeCaro’s Seattle-based. The Cuckoo Clock was her first lead in a feature film. As a musician, her recent single was “Disaster Bound”. She describes herself as an alt-indie pop artist. Her debut EP, A Storm is Brewing, should drop soon.

Drake ran a Seattle-area theater school for over 20 years. When she left acting, she became an elementary school teacher. The Cuckoo Clock was Drake’s first role since 2011. She played a policewoman in 1990’s Ghost and was the Klingon Vekma in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Rodman primarily performs on stage. Otherwise, he seems to be a man of mystery, as far as the internet is concerned.

Johnson is Spiritwalker. He builds fantastic, surreal costumes like the giant bird seen in Cuckoo Clock. He was part of Doja Cat’s 2022 Coachella performance. He has a guide on how to build a Spiritwalker. I mention that only because I love this review left on the page: “This item helped me achieve my dream of being a cryptid that scares neighborhood children.”
