Is Deadpool & Wolverine a reboot for the MCU?

People are already excited about Deadpool & Wolverine, but Kevin Feige has added more fuel to the fire. In a big round-up with Entertainment Weekly, they asked Feige about the upcoming MCU X-Men movie. Quote: Feige declines to comment on this beyond what he’s already said, “which is, July 26 is really when it all starts, when Deadpool & Wolverine comes out.”

2022 had multiple teases. Professor X appeared in Multiverse of Madness. Ms. Marvel introduced the idea of a “mutant” to the MCU. And then, in 2023, The Marvels after-credits scene had Kelsey Grammar back as Beast. Those weren’t quite starting points, though. More just signs of what’s to come.

Part of the problem had been the launch of Disney+ and the Mouse milking Marvel for as much early content as possible. Bob Iger had given way to Bob Chapek who then marginalized Kevin Feige. But in 2022, Chapek got tossed and Iger took back the reigns. Which meant Feige and co could straighten the ship. But the larger the ship, the more time it takes.

So, nearly two years later, we’re just a few weeks away from Feige and team reintroducing themselves. Hopefully the MCU can recapture some of that former glory. If not surpass it.
